African Americans in Behavior Therapy

Aging Behaviors and Cognitive Therapy

The Aging Behavior and Cognitive Therapy SIG will be meeting to welcome returning and new members and discuss aging events of interest at the 2008 Convention. A guest speaker will be presenting on aging issues related to CBT. We will also present the Student Research Award for outstanding aging-related research at the Convention.
Anxiety Disorders

We will present the Anxiety Disorders SIG Awards and discuss SIG business. David H. Barlow, Ph.D., of Boston University, will be this year's invited speaker. In addition, the Early Career Award winner (to be determined 06-2008) will give a presentation on his/her current research program.
Autism and Related Developmental Disorders

Behavior Analysis

The Behavior Analysis SIG will hold an open meeting to discuss the latest developments in clinical behavior analysis and will hold general elections. Members will also discuss how to increase the numbers of SIG-related sessions at the ABCT's Annual Convention.
Behavioral Medicine

The Behavioral Medicine SIG is a forum for discussion of both health promotion and disease prevention via behavior change. The meeting will (a) plan future SIG Convention programming via break-out networking groups, (b) present the 5th Annual Behavioral Medicine Student Research Award, and (c) elect a new co-chair.
Bipolar Disorders

This year's Child and Adolescent Anxiety SIG meeting will feature a keynote address by Dr. Muniya Khanna and Dr. Phil Kendall regarding novel avenues for the dissemination of empirically based child and adolescent anxiety treatments and a presentation by the 2008 SIG Student Travel Award winner.
Child Maltreatment and Interpersonal Violence

Cognitive Therapy

The Cognitive Therapy SIG invites ABCT members to its inaugural meeting. The Cognitive Therapy SIG recognizes a wide diversity of approaches within Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, some placing emphasis on behavioral models, others on experiential models and others on cognitive models. The Cognitive Therapy SIG will focus on all forms of cognitive therapy that stress the central role of cognitive processing in the development, maintenance, and treatment of psychopathology.
Couples Research and Treatment

The SIG provides a forum for academic and professional networking among individuals conducting research and/or interventions with couples. Areas of common interest include: interaction processes, individual differences, assessment, prevention, intervention and treatment, grant funding, translation of basic research about couples into effective intervention and treatment, methodology in couples research, special problems facing couples such as infidelity, sexual dysfunction, and psychological and physical aggression.

Disaster and Trauma

The Disaster and Trauma SIG welcomes anyone who is interested in trauma (including PTSD) and the consequences of natural and human-made disasters. We will discuss trauma-related presentations at ABCT, hold elections for President, Treasurer and Student Representative, and announce the winner of the Student Researcher Award, who will give a presentation of his/her research.
Hispanic Issues in Behavior Therapy

The HIBT SIG welcomes all ABCT participants who have an interest in clinical and/or research issues in behavior therapy with Hispanic/Latino populations. The focus of this meeting will be to network, to talk about SIG-sponsored activities, and to hold elections.
Insomnia and Other Sleep Disorders

This meeting is open to ABCT members with an interest in sleep. Our members vary from students who want to learn more about the field, sleep specialists and/or researchers, and those with very little sleep background. All are welcome. Greetings and introductions open the meeting. This is followed by a discussion of SIG business, including submission or collaborative ideas for the next meeting. To conclude the session, members provide a brief description of their activities over the past year.
Men's Mental and Physical Health

Native American Issues in Behavior Therapy and Research

Rehabilitation and Neuropsychology

Schizophrenia and Other Serious Mental Disorders

The first part of the meeting will include an award presentation and seminar. Dr. Gordon Paul will discuss past and future issues in research on severe mental illness in honor of his receiving the "Trail Blazer Award" for his lifetime achievement in this area. The second part of the meeting will be a group discussion on (1) expanding coverage of topics concerning severe mental illness at ABCT, (2) encouraging student participation, (3) updates on work by SIG members, and (4) election of SIG officers.

Women's Issues in Behavior Therapy

The goals of the Women's SIG are to support women's leadership in psychology and related fields and to promote research and education on issues specific to women and behavior therapy. This years' meeting will include brief introductions, a review of the past year's activities, presentation of awards, and an opportunity to discuss topics of interest to Women's SIG members. SIG members and anyone else interested are welcome to attend.
